During Barack Obama's visit to Kenya in 2015, several notable figures were present, including President Uhuru Kenyatta's Personal Assistant, Jomo Gecaga, who was restricted from touching the presidential vehicle known as the Beast.

Mike Sonko was seen wearing a police jacket to get a clear view of Obama's motorcade and the Beast.

Alfred Mutua, who had previously referred to Obama as a junior Senator from Illinois in 2006, greeted him warmly during a state house dinner.

Eric Kiraithe, head of security at the Kenya Airports Authority, was thoroughly screened by American Security Forces at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Deputy President William Ruto also greeted Obama, despite facing a case at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the time.
