Twenty-three bodaboda operators were arrested in connection with the burning of a matatu belonging to the Ongata Rongai Line Sacco on Saturday.

According to Police Spokesman George Kinoti, the arrested individuals will be taken to court once the investigation is complete.

Kinoti condemned the actions of bodaboda riders who take the law into their own hands and harass other road users, including pedestrians.

"We have noted with grave concern that some bodaboda riders have developed a tendency of quickly mobilizing their members whenever an incident involving one of them happens and they proceed to harass members of the public and even destroy property like the incident in Nairobi yesterday. We wish to warn that this manner of hooliganism disregarding road traffic laws as well as other penal code laws will not be tolerated," said Kinoti.

Kinoti stated that other suspects are being sought for arrest to bring justice to the aggrieved parties.

He instructed all officers to deal firmly with lawbreakers, including gangs pretending to be boda boda riders.
