On Saturday night, a wave of violence swept through Riverside in Ruaraka, leaving five people dead.
According to eyewitnesses, one person was shot in the chest, while three others were shot in the head.
Two vehicles were later torched along the Outer Ring road on Sunday morning, in what is believed to be a retaliatory attack.
The mayhem caused a massive traffic snarl-up on Thika road, which was described as impassable by commuters.
Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome stated that the exact number of people killed in the attacks remains unknown, as another body was taken to the Kenyatta University mortuary.
Police were deployed to the area on Sunday morning to restore order, but they encountered resistance from angry youths who blocked their access.
After firing teargas to disperse the youths, the police were still unable to access the area.
