Jackline Mwende, who made headlines last year after claiming her husband assaulted her due to her inability to bear children, has announced that she is now pregnant.
Mwende's pregnancy comes after she admitted to having an extramarital affair, which she claims was an attempt to save her marriage to Stephen Ngila. In an interview with Daily Nation, Mwende stated,
I was desperate for a child and that is why I strayed out of my marriage.
Background on the Assault ¶
Mwende's husband, Stephen Ngila, was accused of assaulting her, resulting in the loss of her arms and severe injuries to her skull. However, Ngila denied the attempted murder charges and was released on a KES 200,000 bond. The case is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for February 27th.
Mwende's affair may have contributed to the assault, as she confessed that she may have been seen in public with the other man on the day before the incident.
Recent Developments ¶
A German organization, Merck, has built Mwende a new home through their More than a Mother project. The two-bedroom house is located in Katham village, Machakos County.
