  1. Before entering politics, Ruto worked as a teacher at Sirgoi Secondary school and Kamagut Secondary school.
  2. Ruto met his wife at university, where she was training to be a teacher. The couple has six children.
  3. At the University of Nairobi, Ruto excelled academically and was ranked the best student in his class, earning him a scholarship to pursue a Master's degree at the same institution. He was also known for his leadership in the university choir and as an evangelist.
  4. Ruto's family had humble beginnings; his father was a farmer, and to support his family's income, Ruto would sell chicken and groundnuts along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
  5. He is a devout Christian and attends the African Inland Church, where he coincidentally worshipped with former President Moi. Their shared faith led to a close friendship, with Moi eventually introducing Ruto to politics after being impressed by his powerful prayers at church.
