A woman from Kiambu County, Lucy Gathoni, received two sheep as compensation for her goat that was allegedly killed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s motorcade on March 4, 2017.
The goat was killed when Gathoni's children left it unattended to see the President, who was passing by on the Kimende-Githunguri road. The children had been tending to the goats but left them to witness the President's visit, and in the process, one of the goats was hit and killed while crossing the road.
According to Gathoni, the children followed her and her husband when they heard the siren of the President's motorcade but forgot to lock the gate, allowing the goats to escape. Ngewa MCA, Karungo wa Thangw'a, delivered the two sheep to Gathoni's home in Kambaa as compensation for her loss.
Gathoni expressed her gratitude for the compensation, which came after the MCA promised to help her following the incident.
