A 17-year-old girl reportedly attacked and bashed her innocent colleague in front of other students, accusing her of her mom’s ongoing affair with her dad.
According to the victim, the attacker "bashed my head against the wall and on the ground and kicked me continuously while other students cheered and watched, some encouraging her to continue beating me."
The victim told the school's disciplinary committee that this was not the first time that the attacker was bullying her. She added that she didn’t want to fight back for fear of being suspended.
The girl further said she did not know about the alleged affair between her mom and the attacker’s dad.
Response from the School Administration ¶
During the disciplinary hearing, where both the attacked and the attacker were present, the school’s deputy principal and members of the institution’s governing body reportedly told the traumatised pupil to find another school.
However, the victim’s 64-year-old grandmother argued that transferring her grand-daughter to another school was neither a solution nor an option. "The people you should be getting rid of are the rotten apple who infects others. My grand-child is going nowhere, given that she is in her final year," she insisted.
Consequences and Next Steps ¶
Though the authorities have not confirmed if any case has been opened, the victim girl’s parents are said to be in the process of suing the attacker’s parents for assault.
A video footage of what unfolded during the attack has since gone viral. Authorities have also swung into action to investigate cases of bullying in the school.
