Kenyan court battles over the estate of late Cabinet Minister Mbiyu Koinange have finally come to an end, with his last-born daughter Lennah Wanjiku dropping her appeal against a court ruling.

According to Business Daily, Ms. Wanjiku's attorney, Ochieng Oduol, said she dropped the case to avoid further delay in the distribution of the estate left behind by her father.

The estate, valued at Sh10 billion, includes undeveloped plots in Nairobi CBD, a Sh2 billion holding next to the Reinsurance Plaza, shares in several companies, and multi-billion-shilling land and buildings in Kiambu, Nakuru, and Mombasa.

Ms. Wanjiku was ordered to return an 88-acre parcel of land worth Sh1.4 billion following a case filed by Koinange's fourth wife, Eddah Wanjiru, who was reportedly backed by a majority of the family members.

Ms. Wanjiru's case had threatened to delay the implementation of a Supreme Court ruling that ordered Koinange's estate to be distributed to his four wives and all their dependents.

With Ms. Wanjiku's appeal dropped, the court can now proceed with the distribution of the estate, bringing an end to a 38-year succession battle.
