Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola are reportedly preparing to compete for the signing of Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe.

Sidibe, a 24-year-old French footballer, was previously a target for Arsenal during the last summer transfer period. He has established himself as one of France's best defenders this season in Europe.

According to reports in France, Guardiola watched Sidibe on a scouting trip in January 2017 and is interested in replacing his ageing right-backs, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, who are approaching the end of their contracts.

Guardiola will have the opportunity to assess Sidibe further when Manchester City faces Monaco in the UEFA Champions League last 16.

Meanwhile, Mourinho is also thought to be interested in bringing Sidibe to Old Trafford to replace Matteo Darmian.
