An audio clip has surfaced, reportedly capturing a conversation between representatives of Bidco and two Twitter influencers, Cyprian Nyakundi and Xtian Dela. According to the clip, Nyakundi and Dela allegedly attempted to extort Sh40 million from Bidco.
The controversy surrounds Nyakundi's blog posts accusing Bidco of land grabbing in Uganda. Despite reports from the Ugandan government clearing Bidco of wrongdoing, Nyakundi continued to publish claims of Bidco's alleged misconduct.
Behind the scenes, Bidco's PR team engaged with Xtian Dela, reportedly a friend and collaborator of Nyakundi's, to address the situation. Dela suggested that Bidco pay Nyakundi to drop the matter, as reported by Ghafla.
The leaked audio clip appears to capture a meeting between Dela, Nyakundi, and a Bidco representative. In the recording, Dela allegedly requests Sh40 million on Nyakundi's behalf to delete the blog posts and refrain from publishing further negative content about Bidco. After a pause, Dela reduces the demand to Sh20 million.
