Heavy Bail for Kenya's Finance Minister in Dams Case

On July 23, 2019, Kenya's finance minister, Henry Rotich, and his Principal Secretary, Kamau Thugge, were released on bail in a high-profile dams case.

The court set a Ksh50 million ($500,000) bond with a surety or a Ksh15 million cash bail for each of the two officials.

Rotich and Thugge are among over 10 individuals charged with multiple counts, including abuse of office, conspiracy to commit an economic crime, and approving payment contrary to the law.
