A Member of County Assembly in Baringo county and a parliamentary aspirant were shot dead on the night of Friday, February 17, inside a bar in Marigat town.
Loiyamorok MCA Cheretei Kibet and MP aspirant for Tiaty constituency Pepee Kitambaa were ambushed and shot dead by unknown assailants who later torched their vehicle.
The two were part of a group of seven people enjoying drinks in the town when the assailants attacked them. Then, masked killers shot the two with an AK47, broke into one of the cars, picked a bag, and torched the cars.
No one has been arrested following the incident. Police have launched investigations into the killing of the two politicians.
This incident occurred on the same day opposition leader Raila Odinga escaped unhurt when armed youth invaded his rally in Turkana East and fired live bullets at the rally. Raila was in Turkana for a political rally when the incident happened and blamed a Jubilee Party MP for the incident.
