Bishop Mark Kariuki spoke out against comments made by Johnson Muthama regarding Devolution CS Anne Waiguru and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, Robert Alai criticized Bishop Kariuki's reaction, stating that the bishop had remained silent during the 'Mugo Wa Wairimu' scandal but chose to speak out in defense of Waiguru.
Alai expressed his views, saying,
It worries me that Bishop Mark Kariuki never came out when Mugo wa Wairimu was filmed raping women but came out when Waiguru was criticised for being too sweet to the President that she can’t be punished. Muthama just asked if Waiguru ameongezewa asali and that is what triggered grown men and political leaders baying for his blood. We have bred a bunch of chauvinistic followers who don’t think beyond simple criticism. Respect is earned and not forced.
