Esther Mwende, a former host of KTN's Tukuza show, recently shared personal details about her past relationship in a media interview.
Mwende, who currently hosts the Konnect show on Radio Maisha, revealed that she was once engaged to a local video producer. However, their relationship ended, and they continued to see each other without commitment.
According to Mwende, the relationship was experiencing difficulties, which led to a break. She stated, "We were going through a rocky patch in our relationship, which is not uncommon. My ex, however, felt that I was disrespectful and so we decided to take a break, though we continued seeing each other in an uncommitted relationship."
After the breakup, Mwende discovered she was pregnant. Initially, she considered abortion but changed her mind after her ex-partner promised to support the child.
Mwende recalled feeling bitter when she saw her ex-partner with a new girlfriend at the Groove Awards. She said, "I was very bitter. I threatened to abort, but he pleaded with me not to, promising to support the child. I later saw him with his new girl at the Groove Awards. It really hurt me and that’s when reality sunk in"
Mwende also mentioned that she stopped co-hosting The Tukuza show with Anthony Ndiema after becoming pregnant, citing the shame of being a gospel show host and facing an unplanned pregnancy.
Despite the challenges, Mwende claims to have moved on and forgiven her ex-partner.
