A recently released autopsy report states that Bobbi Kristina Brown's death was caused by pneumonia and brain damage resulting from drug intoxication and immersion in a bathtub of water.
Brown was found unresponsive in her suburban Atlanta home in January 2015 and passed away at a hospice in July of that year at the age of 22, without regaining consciousness.
According to the medical examiner's office, several substances were found in Brown's system, including marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine byproduct, medications used for sedation and anxiety treatment, and morphine. However, the office noted that it could not determine if the presence of morphine indicated heroin use, as heroin metabolizes to morphine.
The autopsy report was released on what would have been Brown's 23rd birthday.
