Salma Mbuvi, daughter of Hon. Mike Sonko, was reportedly upset over a story in The Nairobian claiming she was dating a University of Nairobi student named Wakili Ochieng.
Wakili Ochieng has since denied the allegations, stating that Salma Mbuvi is only a friend. In a Facebook post, he wrote:
Comrades I would like to clear the air on this matter that did stir dirty waters in our city in the past week and left my image tainted and blackened in equal measures. Calls from comrades and journalists could not make me sleep a doze. Page 17 of THE NAIROBIAN Newspaper last week reported that I was in a romantic relationship with Salma Mbuvi, the daughter to Hon. Mike Sonko. I state that Salma Mbuvi is just my close friend and there is nothing romantic between us. Treat the article as mere rumour meant to ill-motively target my political ambitions ahead of 2016 SONU elections and the 2017 General Election.
