Rosemary Nankabirwa, a 35-year-old former anchor at NTV Uganda, has died due to cancer-related complications at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
According to NTV Uganda's official Twitter page, Nankabirwa passed away on Sunday afternoon, a day after being airlifted from Kampala for specialized treatment. The message stated,
Rosemary Nankabirwa has been pulled off life support. Her family has confirmed that she has passed on. We are grateful for the love, prayers and financial support given to Rosemary during her battle with cancer. May her soul rest in peace.
The news comes after the Ugandan public contributed over Sh 3 million towards her treatment, with President Yoweri Museveni donating Sh 160,000. Nankabirwa had been undergoing treatment at the Mulago Cancer Institute in Kampala for an undisclosed period.
