Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has been threatened by a man claiming to possess compromising photos of her.
According to a post by the MP on Facebook, an individual identifying himself as Elisha warned her that unless she paid him, he would release embarrassing photos to the media.
Odhiambo shared the message she received from Elisha, which read: 'Somthng damng is on my hands and getting its way to the media, jatelo this might taint ur image than ever and probably destroy your stalng political career, plus some nūde pics from a guy u cnt expct. snd me ur mail i send u da stafs u see. Urgent'
The MP stated that upon contacting Elisha, he claimed his intention was to protect her and that he needed financial compensation to prevent the release of the photos.
However, Odhiambo refused to give in to the blackmail, telling Elisha to proceed with publishing the photos.
She expressed her indifference to public opinion on her morality, stating: 'I don’t care much about what people think about my morality. Brand me a prostitute or whatever else pleases you. I don’t care.'
Odhiambo further emphasized her readiness to face any consequences, saying: 'I came into politics knowing I will be attacked on issues of morality and on and related issues. Please post whatever it is we get it over with including the photos.'
She also highlighted her professional background as a lawyer, asserting that she cannot be held at ransom.
This incident is not the first time the MP has been involved in a controversy. In December, she was embroiled in a dispute with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria during a debate on the Security Laws, where she alleged that Kuria had boxed her and removed her pãnties. Kuria denied the claims, stating that Odhiambo had removed her own innerwear and thrown it on the floor.
