On July 23, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru led a consortium of women politicians in a move to promote unity and bridge the gap between Kenyans ahead of the 2022 elections.

Waiguru, along with other women leaders from across the political divide, including Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga, Sabina Chege (Muranga Woman Representative), Mishi Mboko (Likoni MP), and Rosa Buyu (Kisumu Woman Representative), launched their new movement dubbed 'Embrace'.

Speaking to the press, Waiguru said, 'We reject early campaigns that are polarizing this country and opening wounds when elections are more than three years away.'

The women leaders labeled the succession wars pitting Jubilee leaders against each other over the 2022 elections as backward and vowed to stand with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga in their efforts to lead the country forward.

They also emphasized that the handshakes between the two leaders are not about them, but about all Kenyans.

The 'Embrace' team now says they will be moving around the country to preach unity and boost the war on corruption.
