A man who attempted to snatch a phone from a passerby near the Kenya National Archives in Nairobi was severely beaten and left unresponsive for several hours.
According to eyewitnesses, the man appeared lifeless, lying in a pool of blood, but later showed signs of movement around 8am.
He was subsequently picked up by police and taken to a hospital for treatment.
