A Kenya National Union of Teachers official has expressed opposition to the Reproductive Health Care Bill, which seeks to introduce contraceptives in schools.
According to Daniel Nginga, the Machakos Knut executive secretary, the bill is dangerous because it promotes immorality among students, potentially affecting their academic performance. Nginga stated,
This bill is dangerous because it is seeking to introduce immorality among students, which will affect their performance in national examinations. It will make students concentrate more on relationships than books.
Nginga believes the bill has more disadvantages than advantages for schoolchildren and should be opposed. He specifically mentioned that providing students with contraceptives is not beneficial.
