The media has faced criticism for its handling of terrorism and counter-terrorism stories in the country.
Alamin Kimathi, a human rights activist and former journalist, states that although the media has brought these issues to light, it has failed to scrutinize the most critical aspects.
Kimathi pointed out that journalists did not verify whether individuals deported to Somalia were indeed illegal immigrants or Kenyan citizens without identification cards.
According to Kimathi, journalists should seek independent information beyond official government statements.
