Nairobi, one of Africa's most developed cities, has its share of challenges, including crime in certain areas.
A report by the Security Research and Information Centre and the Kenyan Government identifies several estates as having high crime rates, even during the day.
Areas listed as having notable crime issues include:
- Makadara and Mukuru kwa Reuben slums
- Kayole
- Jericho
- Soweto
- Lunga Lunga slums
- Dagoretti-Dagoretti
- Western area of Kibera
- Kariobangi North
- Dandora
- Mathare
- Mukuru Kwa Njenga
- Korogocho
Visitors are advised to exercise caution when moving around these areas, especially at night.
