A tragic accident occurred along Thika Road near the Juja weighbridge involving a lorry and a matatu. According to reports, the matatu (KCC 220L), which belongs to the Kenya Mpya fleet, veered off the road and hit a lorry. The driver of the lorry was attempting to avoid hitting pedestrians crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing when the speeding bus hit it from behind.
Several people are feared dead, including those seated at the front of the bus, while the injured were rushed to Kalimoni Mission Hospital.
The accident caused a heavy traffic snarl-up along the busy highway.
