Outspoken Budalangi MP and ODM Secretary General, Ababu Namwamba, has sparked controversy following his comments in Kakamega during a visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.
Namwamba suggested that he would work with Uhuru and Ruto for the benefit of the people of Western, and encouraged other Luhyas and CORD leaders to consider crossing over to Jubilee for meaningful development.
Response from ODM ¶
Philip Etale, Director of Communication in ODM and Raila Odinga's Spokesman, criticized Namwamba's remarks, suggesting that the Budalangi legislator may be a Jubilee mole spying on Raila Odinga.
Etale expressed his concerns on social media, stating:
"With due respect to my boss and bro... the QUESTION you posed to the gathering in Mumias 'muko tayari kuhama?' was unwarranted and in journalistic language 'a leading question'.
Etale's comments reflect the discontent within ODM and CORD over Namwamba's willingness to collaborate with the ruling party.
