Deputy President William Ruto has met with top Kalenjin politicians at his Karen residence to discuss concerns over the treatment of the United Republican Party (URP) wing within the Jubilee government.

A senior Kalenjin politician stated, 'H.E Ruto is not happy with the continued marginalisation of URP by top Statehouse operatives.' This sentiment comes after a series of appointments made by President Uhuru Kenyatta, where lists forwarded by Deputy President Ruto to Statehouse were allegedly altered, replacing suggested names with others not known to Ruto.

In a recent development, Ruto had submitted a list of individuals for top government positions, including ambassadors, heads of parastatals, principal secretaries, and board members of various government agencies. However, the names were reportedly changed again.

About two weeks prior, Ruto was invited to Statehouse and presented with a final list to review before a joint announcement by the President. The list contained names not originally included by Ruto, prompting concern.

Ruto has previously nominated individuals from outside his Kalenjin community for strategic appointments but expressed dissatisfaction upon seeing names from the Mt. Kenya region featured prominently in job allocations.
