An inquest into the death of Careen Chepchumba, a former employee of Kenya Power and Lighting Company who died under mysterious circumstances four years ago, commenced on Wednesday.
Ms Chepchumba, 26, was found dead on her bed at Santonia Court, off Kirichwa Road in Kilimani, Nairobi, on February 14, 2012.
Her father, Mr Hosea Kili, testified that his daughter had borrowed heavily from friends and family to finance the lifestyle of former television personality Louis Otieno.
According to Mr Kili, his daughter incurred significant debts, totaling Sh3,000,000, which she borrowed from his friends and close family members to support Mr Otieno's lifestyle, including purchasing a state-of-the-art Range Rover for him.
Mr Kili also claimed that his daughter was found dead a day after she revealed to the family that Mr Otieno had been blackmailing her.
Louis Otieno has denied any involvement in Ms Chepchumba's death and is expected to testify in the inquest.
The inquest was delayed for four years due to the unavailability of key witnesses, including the woman's parents.
