A Kenyan man known as Don has gained widespread recognition for his act of kindness. Don, believed to be a former Kenya Airways employee who currently lives on the streets, returned a lost bundle of notes worth 200,000 Kenyan shillings to its rightful owner.
The owner, a woman, had unknowingly dropped the money while on her way to the bank. Don picked it up and followed her to return the lost funds, refusing any reward for his actions.
A Good Samaritan's Story ¶
The woman shared her encounter with Don on Buyer Beware, stating that she had been carrying a large sum of money to the bank when the zipper on her bag broke, causing two bundles of notes to fall out. Unaware of the loss, she continued on her way until Don caught up to her and returned the money.
As she recounted, Don approached her near the bank entrance and said, "uliangusha pesa uko nyuma" (you dropped some money back there). Upon checking her bag, she found that the zipper was open and two bundles were indeed missing.
According to the woman, Don explained that he did not take the money because it could have been meant for important purposes such as school fees or medical expenses. After returning the money, Don disappeared into the crowd before she could thank him properly.
The woman's story highlights Don's selfless act and serves as a reminder that not everyone is driven by selfish motives.
