Former first lady Lucy Kibaki was buried on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at her home in Othaya.
The funeral was attended by notable dignitaries including former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was absent, reportedly due to concerns of potential humiliation in front of the over 2000 guests.
Raila Odinga had a prior commitment in Maasai, according to reports.
