A Tanzanian court case involves Darius Makambako, 30, who sued his friend and neighbor, Evans Mastano, 32, for failing to impregnate his wife, Precious, 28, despite numerous attempts.

According to Dar-es-Salaam Today, the couple, married for six years, sought an unconventional solution after being informed that the husband was sterile. They hired Mastano, a fellow police officer and friend, to help them conceive.

Makambako paid Mastano Sh10,000 (Tsh2,000,000) for his services, which involved attempting to impregnate Precious three evenings a week over a period of 10 months in 2016. Despite 75 attempts, Mastano was unsuccessful in impregnating Precious.

Circumstances Leading to the Lawsuit

Precious, a nurse, took a three-month vacation leave to focus on conceiving with Mastano. However, after 10 months, Makambako questioned why his wife was not getting pregnant and suggested that Mastano undergo a medical examination.

The examination, conducted in January 2017, revealed that Mastano was also sterile. This led to further revelations when Mastano's wife, Angela, confessed that her two children were actually fathered by Mastano's cousin, Edward, as she had been secretly sleeping with him due to her husband's infertility.

Makambako is now suing Mastano for breach of contract, seeking a refund of the payment made for his services. However, Mastano argues that he did not guarantee conception, only that he would make an honest effort to impregnate Precious.
