A man and a woman were found stuck together in a matatu in Magembe village, Tharaka South, after a night in the vehicle.
According to residents, the man, a matatu driver, and the woman were discovered on the back seat of the matatu at around 6am. The woman's husband, who was among the eyewitnesses, demanded payment before he would separate the two.
The driver offered to pay KES 10,000 for sleeping with the man's wife and pleaded for forgiveness. The husband eventually separated the two after mumbling incomprehensible words.
The incident was witnessed by residents, including Ms Mary Muthoni, who stated that the two were found in a compromising position and their private parts had swollen. Another resident, Mr Julius Mutegi, claimed that this was the second incident of a couple failing to separate after committing adultery in the area.
A 76-year-old woman, Ann Ciambura, said such cases were common in the past and that the use of witchcraft was meant to curb adultery in the community.
The two individuals were taken to Chiakariga Police Post following the incident.
