Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko recently hosted a lavish party at his home, attended by close friends and relatives.
According to sources, the senator spent a significant amount of money on food and expensive drinks during the event.
Sonko was reportedly in high spirits throughout the party, expressing gratitude for the kindness life had shown him.
Notable guests included Sonko's adopted child, Baby Satrine Osinya, who survived a gunshot wound to the head during a terrorist attack on a church in Likoni, Mombasa, last year.
Corruption Cases and Investigation ¶
Sonko, formerly the MP for Makadara, is known for his extravagant spending and populist approach to politics.
In May, President Uhuru Kenyatta tabled a list in Parliament that mentioned Sonko in connection with corruption-related cases.
Following this, Sonko volunteered to step aside from his senatorial duties to allow for investigations and has since maintained a low public profile.
Additionally, there have been reports that the Sonko Rescue Team, a pet project offering free services to Nairobi residents, has become ineffective.
