Gospel singer Joyce Omondi has shared sentimental details about her December 18th wedding to Waihiga Mwaura, a fellow Citizen TV staffer.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish getaway wedding held at the exclusive Sawela Lodge in Naivasha. Omondi, who used to co-host Citizen TV's Kubamba Show, took to her Facebook page to thank two women who played a major role in putting together her breathtaking bridal look.
Omondi appreciated her mother, saying, "My dear mum kept the very same veil she wore on her own wedding day for me! It matched my gown PERFECTLY and was just as beautiful as when she wore it decades ago!"
A close childhood friend, who Omondi regards as a sister, helped her design and tailor the luxuriously embroidered long-sleeved bridal gown. "And then there was this gown! It was such a joy designing it with my best friend @naomydesign who has been the sister I never had since childhood. She totally brought the design to life with her amazing tailoring skills!" posted the grateful newlywed.
The Wedding Ceremony ¶
Little was known about the couple’s courtship, and when news of their wedding broke, it was splashed on many local websites and blogs. The duo opted for an intimate out-of-town wedding, and close friends, family, and members of the media fraternity attended the lavish ceremony.
Sports Anchor Waihiga looked stunning in an all-white three-piece tuxedo, and his groomsmen wore black suits and waistcoats with white shirts and green neckties. The bridesmaids wore long fitting evening gowns in a rich green color.
Omondi's gown held sentimental value: "The sentimental value of what I wore that day is something I will always treasure.. a reminder of two incredible women who have stood with me through the highs and lows of my life and loved me so graciously. How I love and thank them both immensely!"
