The song Nerea sparked widespread discussion across Kenya, with its theme of abortion resonating with many Kenyans who have either undergone the procedure or know someone who has.

Robert Alai, a controversial online commentator, criticized the song on Twitter, prompting a response from Bien-Aimé, a member of the music group Sauti Sol.

Bien-Aimé stated,

He further emphasized that the issue of abortion needs to be addressed, citing the risks and consequences associated with it. Bien-Aimé also stressed the importance of responsibility, saying
