Janet Ikua Kanini, host of the N-Soko Property Show, has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for a life-threatening heart condition.
Kanini was admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) on June 15th due to a blood clot in her heart. The clot had originated in her leg as a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and either traveled to her heart or a new one formed.
According to her Facebook page, the DVT had cleared up after two months of treatment, but her doctor remained concerned about her symptoms, including breathlessness and a racing heart after minimal physical activity.
On June 18, doctors diagnosed Kanini with a pulmonary embolism, indicating clots had formed in her pulmonary artery. Prior to the diagnosis, Kanini said she was going about her daily life normally.
Kanini recalled her cardiologist ordering her immediate admission to the HDU, stating, „This lady may be smiling but what is inside her is serious so get her to HDU right now and start the drip!„
Despite the severity of her condition, Kanini maintained a positive outlook, expressed through her Facebook updates where she thanked her well-wishers and medical team.
In one update, Kanini wrote, „I’m still keeping my swag in my hospital bed and looking forward to wearing bright Kamba colored clothes when I’m discharged. If you’re around when I’m 120 years old we’ll go dancing at New Jack Swing… ama?„
On June 23, Kanini underwent a successful 15-minute procedure, which involved placing a sieve in her inferior vena cava to prevent blood clots from passing to her heart, lungs, and brain.
Kanini is now recovering outside of the hospital. Her health and quick recovery are wished for by many.
