The national primary schools’ ball games and gymnastics have kicked off in Eldoret, with various regions competing in different sports.
Football Results ¶
In the opening football boys’ match, defending champions Nzoia Region were held to a barren draw by Metropolitan Region. In another match, Northern Region beat Aberdare Region 2-1, with Issa Minhaj scoring in the 15th second and Maro Abdalla netting the second goal in the 18th minute.
Coast Region won against Highland 4-1, with Ijema Isamael scoring all four goals. Meanwhile, 2014 champions Lake Region were beaten 3-1 by Mau Region. In girls’ football, Hellen Nzilani scored the lone goal to give Highlands Metropolitan region a 1-0 win over their opponents.
Handball and Volleyball ¶
Defending champions Nzoia Region beat Highland Region 29-7 in handball and also defeated Aberdare 24-9. In volleyball, three-time champions Mau Region beat Nzoia 3 sets to nil and also won against Northern in the girls’ category 3 sets to nil.
Netball ¶
Defending champions Lake Region beat Aberdare 24-5 in the Netball boys’ category. In another Pool A match, Nzoia beat Mau 13-10.
Nestlé Kenya, through its MILO brand, sponsored the 2015 national primary school ball games with a contribution of Sh5 million.
