A column by Silas Nyanchwani explores why some men are hesitant to date single mothers under the age of 30. According to Nyanchwani, having a child out of wedlock at a young age can complicate a woman's dating life.

Nyanchwani recounts his university days, where he observed that women who became pregnant outside of marriage often struggled to regain their previous social status. He cites the example of a classmate who became pregnant and subsequently lost interest from her peers.

Evidence from Personal Experience

Nyanchwani suggests that when a woman has a child under the age of 30, it can limit her options for marriage and relationships. He argues that men in their late 20s and early 30s often prefer partners without children.

Additionally, Nyanchwani notes that some men are deterred by the potential complications of dating a single mother, including custody battles and entanglements with the child's father.

Social Attitudes and Consequences

While societal attitudes towards single mothers may be changing, Nyanchwani believes that many men still prefer to date women without children. He advises young women to consider the potential consequences of becoming a single mother before making decisions about their relationships and reproductive health.

Men don’t want to be entangled in custody cases, because if the man who first put the woman in the family way took off, it means the jerk might change his mind and come back to rock the marriage.

Nyanchwani's column offers insights into the complexities of dating and relationships, particularly for single mothers under the age of 30.
