According to the Commission for University Education (CUE), eight university satellite campuses in Nairobi may be shut down due to failure to meet accreditation requirements.
The affected campuses belong to both public and private institutions. The CUE stated in a newspaper advertisement that these campuses are operational but lack proper accreditation.
The Commission warned that any university operating an unauthorized satellite campus in Nairobi is violating the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012. The CUE is responsible for regulating the establishment of satellite campuses and has the authority to close unauthorized institutions.

- St Paul’s University campus, located along Moi Avenue, Church House
- Egerton University campus in Stanbank House
- Africa Nazarene University campuses in Agrho House and Stanbank House
- South Eastern Kenya University campus in Development house
- Dedan Kimathi University of Technology campuses in Union Towers and Biashara Plaza
- Multi-Media University of Kenya campus, located in City Square Post Office Building
- Masinde Muliro University campus on Kingsway Building
- Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology campus in Westlands
The CUE requires institutions to demonstrate adequate physical, human, library, and financial resources, as well as viable academic programs and sound governance structures to achieve accreditation.
Accredited Campuses ¶
- Moi University campus at Bazaar Plaza
- Mount Kenya University campuses in Parklands, MKU Towers, Union Towers, and Bank Plaza
- Kenyatta University campuses located on Haile Selassie Avenue and Parklands
- Laikipia University’s Upper Hill Campus
- University of Eastern Africa, Baraton’s extension centre on Ring Road
- Pan African Christian University on Valley Road
- Kenya Methodist University campuses located in Kemu Towers and along University way
The commission also identified three satellite campuses with provisional accreditation: KCA University in Monrovia Plaza, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Karen Campus, and Kisii University branch in Corner House.
