Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is facing a rebellion in Western Kenya after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto visited the region and announced a sh1 billion bailout for Mumias Sugar Company.

Sirisia MP John Waluke declared that the Luhya people will no longer support Raila Odinga, stating that they will not be used for political gain and left in poverty.

Waluke criticized Odinga's politics, saying,

Time has come where we must say that we are not going to be used any more. Those using this as a political tool should watch out because we now know better.

Waluke's comments were in response to criticism from the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) regarding the government's bailout of Mumias Sugar, which CORD termed as a political scheme to sway the region away from Odinga.
