Thousands of mourners gathered in Bujumbura, Burundi, to attend the funeral of Zedi Feruzi, an opposition figure killed in a drive-by shooting.
A procession carrying Feruzi's coffin marched through the city for 90 minutes, stopping traffic as young people sang patriotic songs on their way to a Muslim cemetery.
Feruzi and his bodyguard were killed on Saturday night. The incident has led to increased fear among opposition figures, with many going into hiding due to concerns over their safety amid President Pierre Nkurunziza's bid for a third term.
The killing occurred amidst four weeks of street protests in Burundi, which have resulted in at least 20 deaths. The protests began after Nkurunziza announced his intention to seek re-election. An attempted coup took place on May 13 but was put down by army forces loyal to the president.
