Deputy President William Ruto has responded to comments made by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga regarding the National Youth Service (NYS) recruits.
According to Ruto, the youths recruited to NYS are not militias, but rather officers serving the nation. Ruto made these remarks while speaking at a rally at Mumias Sugar Complex on Wednesday.
Ruto stated,
"Our youths are not goons but our future. Everybody’s dream in Kenya counts and that’s why we were taking youths to NYS to realise their dream,"
He also mentioned that the Jubilee Government plans to invest Sh 200 billion in the youths and women through procurement opportunities.
