Meru Governor Orders Arrest of All Ombaombas and People with Disabilities to Join Sacco ¶
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has ordered the arrest of all ombaombas and people with disabilities in Meru, instructing them to join a newly formed Sacco for people with disabilities.
According to Murungi, the number of ombaombas and people with disabilities has been increasing in Meru, and he has accused some individuals of exploiting them for personal gain.
Speaking at a press conference, Murungi said that the government would take action against those involved in the exploitation of people with disabilities, and that he wanted all ombaombas and people with disabilities to join the Sacco to access training and financial assistance.
He also announced that the government would provide KSh 15 million to establish the Sacco, with KSh 10 million allocated to the Sacco and the remaining KSh 5 million to be used for training and capacity building.
Mike Makarina, the chairman of the Sacco, said that they were ready to work day and night to ensure that the rights of people with disabilities were respected.
