During the inauguration of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli, Prime Minister Raila Odinga was accorded head of state honors.
President Magufuli and former President Jakaya Kikwete provided PM Odinga with executive presidential treatment, including an Aide-de-Camp. Raila received a standing ovation as a special friend of Tanzania, prompting the stadium to erupt in a frenzy upon his introduction.
PM Odinga stayed at the Serena-Dar El Salam and spent considerable time with both President Kikwete and Magufuli at the Statehouse, engaging in conversation and joking. In contrast, President Uhuru Kenyatta met with President Magufuli briefly before departing early for Nairobi.
PM Raila's delegation was larger than President Kenyatta's, which included CS Amina Mohammed and Najib Balala. Raila's delegation comprised Governor Rasanga, Hon Wetangula, Hon Muthama, Hon Oburu, Mama Ida, Governor Joho, Governor Kingi, Senator Onyongo, Senator Agnes Zani, Senator James Orengo, Nyali MP aspirant Hon Saido, and ODM lead Nairobi senate aspirant Ahmed Papa.
