Public service vehicles, known as matatus, are set to adopt a cashless payment system.
According to National Transport Safety Authority Director General Francis Meja, the transition to cashless payments is scheduled to take effect.
Meja stated, "On Monday, all public transport vehicles will be expected to have gone cashless."
However, industry stakeholders are seeking additional time before implementing the new system.
A proposed dual payment system would allow passengers who prefer to pay in cash to continue doing so.
