Citizen Television news anchor and reporter Michael Njenga married his long-term fiancée Phoebe Wanjiku on Saturday, January 9, at the Kenya Technical Trainers College in Gigiri, Nairobi.

According to the couple, they met at a dinner hosted by mutual friends three years ago and, after courtship, set their wedding date for January 9, 2016.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Njenga described the connection he shares with his wife: "We share so many inside jokes, even if we are on opposite sides of the room and we see something that we both relate to, we automatically turn to look at each other."

Key Highlights of the Wedding

The wedding featured several notable moments, including a special dance by the newlyweds, an address by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, and attendance by respected men of God.

During the dance, Mike Njenga took center stage, showcasing his moves to the amusement of the guests and the awe of his wife. Phoebe Wanjiku was also given a challenge by the MC to grab Mike’s attention through a seductive dance, which she successfully accomplished.

Governor Kabogo, an esteemed guest at the wedding, addressed the attendees and offered words of wisdom to the newlyweds. He urged Mike to take care of his wife, look after her well, and anchor their marriage on prayers.

The wedding was also attended by over 20 men of God, including Bishop Allan Kiuna of Jubilee Christian Church and Pastor Israel Robert Burale. They showed their support by dancing and dedicating the couple’s union to God.

The event was packed to capacity, with over 300 guests in attendance, including notable figures such as Royal Media Services Chief Operations Officer Farida Karoney, Editorial Consultant Peter Opondo, and journalists Hussein Mohammed, Janet Mbugua, and Lulu Hassan.

During his address, Mike Njenga urged women to ditch the notion that ‘all men are dogs’. He encouraged them to take the risk and love again, asking God to protect, bless, and guide their relationships.

The wedding cake was a four-tier blue and white chocolate-flavored masterpiece, with a unique and simple design that proved simplicity is indeed excellence.
