The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced plans to auction off 11 planes, with some of the aircraft being sold at prices that have raised eyebrows.

According to a notice published in local dailies on July 23, 2019, the authority has invited bids for the planes, which are being auctioned off through Galaxy Auctioneers.

One of the planes, a BE55 BARON with registration number 5Y AUS operated by Queensway Air Services, is being auctioned off for Ksh94,300, while a PA 23 with registration number 5H-SKT operated by Phoenix Aviation is being sold for Ksh120,000.

The planes will be auctioned off on August 9, 2019, at Wilson Airport, with viewing dates set between July 24, 2019, and August 8, 2019.

Interested buyers are required to view the planes on the set dates and pay a deposit of Ksh100,000 before the auction date. If the bid price is lower than the deposit price, the bidder will be refunded the difference. However, if the bid price is higher than the deposit, the bidder must pay at least 25% of the total value within 24 hours, or risk losing the award and forfeiting their deposit.

The planes on sale include a variety of aircraft, with prices ranging from Ksh94,300 to Ksh120,000.
