On July 31, the curtains will close on the Ms President reality TV show, which premiered on January 30. The show has been a groundbreaking platform for female leadership in Kenya, with 71 contestants vying for the top spot.
Launched six months ago, the show has provided a unique opportunity for women with community projects and a passion for social change to showcase their leadership skills. The contestants were selected from a pool of 375 women who were shortlisted after submitting application forms in June 2018.
After a rigorous audition process in five major towns in Kenya, the final five contestants - Anne Waruguru Kiai, Betty Adera, Irene Mayaka, Nereah Amondi Oketch, and Umulkheir Mohammed - are now bracing for the ultimate 'Presidential Debate' on July 24. The debate will focus on national policy, governance, and current affairs.
The Ms President reality TV show is produced by Media Focus on Africa (MFA) and is inspired by the Palestinian Ma'aan Television Network's program 'The President'. The show airs on KTN Home every Wednesday from 8-9pm, and Kenyans have been given the chance to vote for their preferred candidate.
