A High Court ruling by Judge Mumbi Ngugi has deemed the government's closure of private schools as illegal.
According to the ruling, private schools should not be forced to close due to issues between the government and public school teachers. Instead, the management of these schools is responsible for providing security for their students.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had previously directed the closure of all public and private schools until further notice, citing security concerns. However, many private schools continued to operate as usual, including former President Moi's Kabarak School.
The government has stated that it is not willing to meet the teachers' demands, ordering them to resume duty. The teachers, in turn, have refused to return to work without receiving payment.
