July 23, 2019 - Harambee Stars head coach Sebastian Migne has made a significant move to strengthen his team's goalkeeping department by calling up Bandari FC shot stopper Michael Wanyika.

Wanyika has already reported to the national team's camp at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, where the team is polishing their edges ahead of a two-leg qualifier against Tanzania.

The first leg tie is scheduled for July 28 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, while the return leg will take place on August 2 at Kasarani.

Bandari CEO Edward Odour expressed his happiness over Wanyika's call-up, saying, 'We are very happy for Wanyika. He is a top goalkeeper and he has been phenomenal with our team despite getting few minutes last season in the shadow of Farouk Shikalo. It's a challenge to other Bandari players to step up and show what they are capable of.'

Wanyika joins teammate Abdallah Hassan, who has been in the camp since July 19 and remains the first choice goalie for the dockers. Hassan is tipped to fill the void left by Farouk Shikalo, who ditched the club and joined Tanzanian giants Yanga SC.

Bandari is also working on several transfer targets before the transfer window shuts. The club's boss revealed that they are in the process of looking for players that the coach needs, and have already acquired Danson Chetambe, Ismael Salim Dunga, and Sofapaka's Cliff Kasuti.
