A Baringo county assembly member, Kibet Cheretei, and an MP aspirant, Pepee Kitambaa, were shot dead on Friday, February 17.
The two were ambushed at a night club and shot dead before the assailants torched their cars.
Tiaty MP Asman Kamama has been linked to the killing but has denied the allegations.
According to The Star, Asman Kamama stated, "I am above that. I cannot kill anyone. I believe in fighting at the ballot and not through assassination. The act could be political and police should step up the probe,"
Asman Kamama asked those insinuating his involvement to provide proof to the police, saying "Peddling lies through rumor-mongering and scapegoating will not help. Let anyone who has evidence take it to any police station,"
He suggested that the two might have provoked the attack due to their positions and noted that his friends were also attacked alongside the two victims on the same night.
Cheretei and Pepee were part of a group of seven people enjoying drinks in Marigat town before they were attacked and shot dead by unknown assailants, who then torched their vehicles.
